It was an interesting day of diving today. I went out with Sea Rovers for a local dive in Pemuteran Bay at Close Encounters. The guide noted that there was a current, and I was first to do a backward-roll into the drink. By the time I popped back up, I had already passed the bow of the boat. I swam hard towards the other boat that was tied to us, but there was nothing to grab on to but an algae-covered pontoon that was too slippery. They didn’t have a rope to throw so I drifted further and further away. The boat came to get me fairly quickly, but the waves (and my bad knees) made it pretty challenging to get up the ladder. I decided to sit out the dive, and use my full tank for a shore dive when we pulled back into the dock.
The timing was just right, hitting high tide, and the visibility in Mucky Pirate Bay was the best I had ever seen, so I settled in for a nice long meander. Here are some of the keepers from that dive.
